Conference Artwork
The artist Ngrakani-(Harley Hall), reflecting on his design for the theme 'We Know The Way':
"This artwork represents strength and culture which is a massive part of our identity and wellbeing. We have the shield and boomerangs in the middle representing protection, we have everyone sitting around together united and helping each other overcome life’s struggles and traumas which can lead our mob down the wrong path at times. The hands in the boomerangs represent our ancestors who have paved the way for us all, also the white hands symbolises our non-Indigenous brothers and sisters who continue to work, help and empower our mob to be strong happy and healthy. The kangaroo represents moving forward in life and not letting anything negative hold you back, staying positive and keeping hope.
The community symbols represent our individual communities and the basket weaving representing strength and unity, being one strand is weak but multiple strands is strong. Same as us, we are more stronger when we have each other helping and encouraging us to be positive in life. The lines connect us together and the circles represent our ancient rich culture being the oldest living culture in the world! The black and white footprints symbolises reconciliation and everyone as a whole moving forward together in unity. The colours represent the campaign. We are all leaders and have people looking up to us, so we have a cultural obligation to lead, share and empower others so get involved!"
Artist Biography
I am a proud Ngarrindjeri Kokatha/Wirangu family man with strong Kaurna/Narungga bloodlines. I am a proud father of three - I have two daughters and one son. My Kaurna heritage comes from a strong full blooded Cultural lady named Nellie Raminyemmerin who was sadly stolen from the banks of the river Torrens. I grew up on Kaurna and Ngarrindjeri country learning about Culture from my family and elders. I now operate my own cultural business, I am proud to be a part of the oldest living culture in the world and being story tellers, I am blessed to be able to keep telling stories through my artwork.
I now am dedicated to empowering my people and community through culture and building resilience within my people by keeping our culture alive! I have always been an artist but have taken it professionally since 2016. I have done lots of murals, acrylic on canvas and also make artefacts as I love working with wood. I have created artwork for architects that is showcased throughout community. I have done many artworks such as the Adelaide Crows Indigenous guernsey 2024. I was the first person to ever create the Adelaide Crows Indigenous logo for 2024 and 2025. I have also represented in other big murals in several hospitals and councils in Kaurna yerta. I am blessed to be able to showcase our rich cultural history and heritage through my artwork to help educate people who are walking on Aboriginal land. You can find me here:
